Hierarchical Assembly of Coordination Macromolecules with Atypical Geometries: Gd44Co28 Crown and Gd95Co60 Cage

Ming-Hao Du et al.

Summary: The discovered giant clusters are highly symmetric due to the spontaneous assembly of one or two basic units. In this study, Gd44Co28 crown and Gd95Co60 cage were reported, which have atypical geometry compared to clusters directly assembled by regular units. These clusters not only increase the size of Ln-Co clusters, but also exhibit enhanced magnetic entropy change at ultra-low temperatures. This work provides an effective way to fabricate cluster compounds with giant size and geometry complexity simultaneously.

Largest 3d-4f 196-nuclear Gd158Co38 clusters with excellent magnetic cooling

Ning-Fang Li et al.

Summary: It is a meaningful and challenging work for structural and synthetic chemists to isolate nano-sized high-nuclearity cluster-molecules. In this work, two largest hetero-metallic nano-clusters Gd158Co38 were obtained via the multi-anions-template method. These clusters have a novel structure form of non-open Ln-containing high-nuclearity clusters and exhibit record-breaking magnetic entropy change.

Opening Magnetic Hysteresis by Axial Ferromagnetic Coupling: From Mono-Decker to Double-Decker Metallacrown

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a Dy[15-MCCu-5] (1-Dy) single-molecule magnet (SMM) and a double-decker {Dy[15-MCCu-5]}(2) (2-Dy) SMM were reported. The anisotropy axes of the two Dy-III ions in 2-Dy are nearly collinear, resulting in significantly slower magnetic relaxation times compared to 1-Dy. These complexes exhibit three distinct exponential regimes in their relaxation profiles and hold the largest effective energy barriers among reported d-f SMMs, up to 625 cm(-1).

Field-induced oscillation of magnetization blocking barrier in a holmium metallacrown single-molecule magnet

Si-Guo Wu et al.

Summary: Single-molecule magnets exhibit magnetization blocking with strong magnetic anisotropy, which can be modified through molecular engineering and highlighted by hyperfine coupling. Poor understanding of relaxation mechanisms limits the exploitation of nuclear-spin molecular qubits. This study demonstrates the field-dependent oscillation of magnetization blocking barrier in a holmium metallacrown magnet, driven by the switch of relaxation mechanism involving hyperfine interaction.

Solvothermal self assembly of three lanthanide(III)-succinates: Crystal structure, topological analysis and DFT calculations on water channel

Nargis Akhter Ashashi et al.

Summary: Three new coordination polymers have been assembled using lanthanide(III) ions and succinic acid through self-assembly in DMF-H2O mixed solvent. These polymers have a uniform structure, bridging Ln centers via succinate anions to form one-dimensional chains that extend to generate a three-dimensional network.

Summary: The synthesis and structural analysis of two new families of cobalt-lanthanide coordination aggregates revealed that the size variation of lanthanide ions affects the preference for nuclearity structure formation. Additionally, the order of ligand addition in the reaction medium influences the structural types of the resulting products.
