Inverse Reinforcement Learning for Adversarial Apprentice Games

Bosen Lian et al.

Summary: This article proposes new inverse reinforcement learning algorithms for solving Adversarial Apprentice Games between nonlinear learner and expert systems. The algorithms can extract the unknown cost function of an expert and are implemented using neural networks. The study shows that the cost functions learned by the learner to mimic the expert's behavior are stable and non-unique.

Multilevel threshold image segmentation for COVID-19 chest radiography: A framework using horizontal and vertical multiverse optimization

Hang Su et al.

Summary: COVID-19 is spreading globally, and the diagnosis is usually based on examining chest radiographs. Manual processing of the images is not efficient and accurate enough. To improve the efficiency, this research proposes a multilevel thresholding image segmentation method based on an enhanced multiverse optimizer. The method achieves better segmentation results and can help medical organizations process COVID-19 chest radiography effectively.

Colorectal polyp region extraction using saliency detection network with neutrosophic enhancement

Keli Hu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel method called NeutSS-PLP is proposed for polyp region extraction in colonoscopy images using a short connected saliency detection network with neutrosophic enhancement. Experimental results on two public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for polyp extraction.

Directional mutation and crossover boosted ant colony optimization with application to COVID-19 X-ray image segmentation

Ailiang Qi et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the study of COVID-19 X-ray image segmentation technology. A new multilevel image segmentation method based on the swarm intelligence algorithm is proposed, along with a designed image segmentation model. Experimental results show that the proposed model achieves more stable and superior segmentation results at different threshold levels.

Brain MR image classification for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis using structural hippocampal asymmetrical attributes from directional 3-D log-Gabor filter responses

Katia M. Poloni et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new technique for AD classification using only hippocampal asymmetrical attributes, showing a significant increase in hippocampal asymmetry as the disease progresses. The results demonstrate accuracy values of 69.44% and 82.59% for CN x MCI and CN x AD classification, with AUC values of 0.76 and 0.9, respectively.

Asymmetric thinning of the cerebral cortex across the adult lifespan is accelerated in Alzheimer's disease

James M. Roe et al.

Summary: Aging and Alzheimer's disease lead to progressive disorganization of the brain, causing a loss of cortical asymmetry that becomes accelerated with age. This study shows that the adaptive asymmetric organization of the heteromodal cortex is dedifferentiated in aging and AD, emphasizing a system-wide impact on brain structure.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep learning method for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis using 3D T1-weighted magnetic resonance images. The combination of deep supervision improves the model's performance significantly, achieving high accuracy rates in classification tasks. The visualization method, 3D-Grad-CAM, highlights the brain regions focused on by the model.

THAN: task-driven hierarchical attention network for the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease

Zhehao Zhang et al.

Summary: The study proposed a task-driven hierarchical attention network (THAN) for the diagnosis of MCI and AD, which effectively extracted disease-related region features and emphasized discriminative features through an information sub-network and hierarchical attention sub-network. Results showed that THAN outperformed existing attention-based and patch-based methods in four classification tasks.
