A structural mathematical model on two echelon supply chain system

Shib Sankar Sana

Summary: This paper discusses the optimal green quality and sales prices in both decentralized and centralized two-echelon supply chain systems, as well as price competition of two substitute products where demand depends on price and quality of green product. The models aim to maximize profit functions of individual and integrated systems, considering factors such as procurement costs, selling prices, green quality development costs, and corporate social responsibility contributions. Mathematically analyzed and illustrated with numerical examples to demonstrate practical feasibility.

Evaluating the impact of carbon tax policy on manufacturing and remanufacturing decisions in a closed-loop supply chain

Ruiling Luo et al.

Summary: This paper develops four game-theoretic models to evaluate the impact of carbon tax policy on manufacturing and remanufacturing decisions in a closed-loop supply chain. The results show that carbon tax can effectively promote investment in carbon reduction technology and remanufacturing, but the design of the tax policy needs to be reasonable to avoid negative impact on remanufacturing. The centralized supply chain can achieve higher total profit, but its carbon emissions may be higher than the decentralized supply chain when carbon tax is low. Decisions in the decentralized supply chain are mainly based on the wholesale price between manufacturer and retailer, rather than the unit carbon saving of remanufactured products. Therefore, policymakers should tailor carbon tax policy designs to different industries and can promote low-carbon consumption and cultivate consumer preference for remanufactured products through taxes or subsidies.

Comparative evaluation for recycling waste power batteries with different collection modes based on Stackelberg game

Qingqing Sun et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of battery endurance capacity, advertising effects, and carbon trading prices on the selection of recycling channels by constructing three recycling models. The results show that different recycling channels do not affect prices and market demand within the supply chain, and the profits of manufacturers and retailers are positively correlated with battery endurance capacity and advertising effects. Additionally, the increase in the recycling competition coefficient has a greater impact on carbon emission rights consumption in the mixed recycling model than on savings in carbon emission rights.

Recycling mode selection and carbon emission reduction decisions for a multi-channel closed-loop supply chain of electric vehicle power battery under cap-and-trade policy

Chuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The rapid growth of electric vehicle ownership in China has resulted in a large-scale retirement of power batteries. Establishing an effective recycling system for these batteries is crucial. This study investigates the selection of recycling modes and the decision of carbon abatement in a closed-loop supply chain of EV power batteries. The results show that the optimal mode is the simultaneous participation of the retailer, third-party recycler, and echelon utilization enterprise when the competition intensity among recycling channels is below a certain threshold and the recycling price sensitivity is above a certain threshold. Additionally, the engagement of the echelon utilization enterprise has a positive effect on relieving recycling pressure and improving manufacturers' profits.

Haijun Yu et al.

Summary: By studying the optimized conditions, it is found that the activation of carbon under N2 atmosphere is the best method for regenerating anode graphite from spent lithium-ion batteries. The treatment with 3000°C and 6 hours is confirmed to be the optimal parameters for removing internal stress and achieving the highest degree of graphitization. The regenerated graphite exhibits superior electrochemical properties, with almost complete capacity retention after 1000 cycles and still maintains a high capacity retention rate after 1600 cycles.

Summary: Many OEMs conduct collection operations themselves or through third parties, with existing literature mainly discussing the collection mode selection problem from an economic perspective. This paper aims to fill a gap in research on remanufacturing supply chains by considering the impact of cap-and-trade regulations. The study finds that OEMs may have higher profits in the OEM collecting mode if collection costs are high, and that the third-party collecting mode could reduce carbon emissions in cases of high costs.
