Computational study of magnetic properties of L10 ordered FeNi and FePt binary alloys

Abdalla Obeidat et al.

Summary: A Monte Carlo simulation is used to explore the magnetic properties of L1(0) ordered FeNi and FePt binary alloys. The calculated variations of specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetization with temperature show good agreement with experimental values. The study also includes the calculation of thermal hysteresis loops, magnetic remanence, and coercive field. Additionally, the magnetic properties of the ferrimagnetic phase are presented.

Fe-Ni-N based alloys as rare-earth free high-performance permanent magnet across α to L10 phase transition: A theoretical insight

D. Tuvshin et al.

Summary: The study focuses on enhancing the magnetic anisotropy Ku and thermal stability in Fe16N2-based permanent magnets using density-functional theory and Monte Carlo simulations. Results show that adding N atoms can increase Ku and Fe16N2-based compounds have the potential to be efficient rare-earth free permanent magnets.

First-principles study of electronic structure and magnetic properties of L10-ordered FeNi, FePd, and FePt alloys

K. Aledealat et al.

Summary: The structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of L10-ordered FeM alloys (M = Ni, Pd, or Pt) were studied using first-principles method, revealing that the PBE approximation has the most accurate results for lattice parameters and that the most stable spin configuration is ferromagnetic. FePd and FePt alloys can transition from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic state by varying the tetragonality ratio, leading to the observation of a pseudogap. Large magnetocrystalline anisotropies were found in FePt alloy, while FePd and FeNi showed relatively lower values. Additionally, Heisenberg exchange interactions were calculated from first-principles and Green's functions formalism.
