Silver nanoparticles based on sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposite: Synthesized, characterization, and antibacterial activity

In this study, a method was explored to prepare an effective antibacterial nanocomposite of silver nanoparticles/graphene oxide-sulfobutylether-beta-cyclodextrin (AgNPs/GO-SBE-beta-CD). Dopamine was used as a green and mild reductant to directly reduce silver nitrate on SBE-beta-CD modified graphene oxide. The synthesized nanocomposite showed uniform distribution of silver nanoparticles and exhibited strong antibacterial properties against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It also demonstrated good biocompatibility, making it a promising material for preventing bacterial infection and wound healing applications.
In this work, an effective method was explored to prepare silver nanoparticles/graphene oxide-sulfobutylether-beta-cyclodextrin (AgNPs/GO-SBE-beta-CD) antibacterial nanocomposite. Dopamine (DA) was used as a green and mild reductant to directly in situ reduce silver nitrate on Sulfobutylether-beta-cyclodextrin (SBE-beta-CD) modified gra-phene oxide (GO-SBE-beta-CD). Its synthesized, antibacterial properties and biocompatibility were studied. Results showed that silver nanoparticles with an average size of 73 nm were uniformly distributed on the GO-SBE-beta-CD sheets. In addition, AgNPs/GO-SBE-beta-CD were proved an effective antibacterial material against both gram negative and gram-positive, reduced the viability of E. coli and S. aureus by 90 % at 40 mu g/mL. At the same time, AgNPs/GO-SBE-beta-CD co-cultured with L929 cells did not show cytotoxicity. In vivo experiment, AgNPs/ GO-SBE-beta-CD showed good biocompatibility. Collectively, AgNPs/GO-SBE-beta-CD is a promising material to pre-vent bacterial infection, expecting to be applied in wound healing.
