Slippery Liquid-Like Solid Surfaces with Promising Antibiofilm Performance under Both Static and Flow Conditions

Yufeng Zhu et al.

Summary: Biofilms are a major concern in various fields and the development of effective anti-biofilm strategies is crucial. This study presents the use of slippery omniphobic covalently attached liquid (SOCAL) surfaces as a stable antibiofilm strategy under shear stress. The SOCAL surface significantly reduces biofilm formation of key pathogens, offering a promising solution to biofilm-related issues in medical devices and other applications.

Infection microenvironment-activated core-shell nanoassemblies for photothermal/chemodynamic synergistic wound therapy and multimodal imaging

Ye Qi et al.

Summary: This research introduces an infection microenvironment-activated nanoassembly that exhibits photothermal conversion and generates cytotoxic reactive oxygen species under near-infrared laser irradiation, achieving synergistic effects for the treatment of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. The nanoassembly demonstrates broad-spectrum antibacterial properties against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in vitro and accelerates wound healing in MRSA-infected wounds through photothermal/chemodynamic therapy in vivo. Additionally, the nanoassembly shows potential for dual-modal imaging using magnetic resonance and computed tomography techniques, enabling early and accurate detection of bacterial abscesses.
