Effects of solution pH and polyethylene oxide concentrations on molybdenite-molybdenite, molybdenite-kaolinite, and molybdenite-quartz interaction forces: AFM colloidal probe study

Yingwei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction forces between molybdenite and gangue minerals under different conditions using atomic force microscopy. The results showed that adding 1-2 ppm of PEO in pH 6 solution was effective in improving the flocculation of molybdenite particles and inhibiting the adhesion of gangue minerals. Additionally, adsorption kinetics experiments and energy calculations demonstrated the high adsorption performance of PEO on the molybdenite surface due to sulfur and hydrogen interactions.

Coagulation behaviors of aluminum salts towards humic acid: Detailed analysis of aluminum speciation and transformation

Yanli Kong et al.

Summary: The study investigated the efficiency and mechanism of hydrolyzed Al species in the coagulation of humic acid removal. Results showed the best coagulation effect on HA removal occurred at pH 6 for three aluminum coagulants, with decreasing effectiveness in the order: PACK > AlCl3 > PACl(2). Different hydrolyzed aluminum species had diverse effects on the coagulation process, impacting floc characteristics significantly.

Tiopronin as a novel copper depressant for the selective flotation separation of chalcopyrite and molybdenite

Bingqiao Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, an environmentally friendly surfactant tiopronin was investigated as a novel copper depressant in copper-molybdenum sulfide separation for the first time. The results showed that tiopronin exhibited a strong depressing effect on chalcopyrite and achieved satisfactory separation with high selectivity over a wide pH range. The mechanism of depression was revealed to involve chemisorption of tiopronin on chalcopyrite surface through a strong chemical reaction, forming five-membered chelating rings.

Exploration of amino trimethylene phosphonic acid to eliminate the adverse effect of seawater in molybdenite flotation

Guanghua Ai et al.

Summary: The introduction of ATMP chelating agent can mitigate the adverse effects of seawater on molybdenite flotation, restoring its floatability. Magnesium and calcium ions in seawater play a detrimental role, but ATMP can interact with these ions to improve flotation efficiency.
