Aldoxime- and hydroxy-functionalized chalcones as highly potent and selective monoamine oxidase-B inhibitors

Jong Min Oh et al.

Summary: A panel of chalcone derivatives were evaluated for their inhibitory activities, and HC6 was found to be the most potent inhibitor of MAO-B. HC3 and ACE7 also showed high inhibitory activity. These findings suggest that HC3 and HC6 hold promise as potential candidates for neurological disorder treatments.

Biodegradation performance and anti-fouling mechanism of an ICME/electro-biocarriers-MBR system in livestock wastewater (antibiotic-containing) treatment

Fu Chen et al.

Summary: The novel iron-carbon micro-electrolysis (ICME)/electro-biocarriers-MBR system was effective in removing pollutants from actual livestock wastewater and reducing the concentration of ammonia nitrogen and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Additionally, the system exhibited good anti-membrane fouling behavior, which could be attributed to the oxidization of membrane foulants by electrochemical products and electrostatic repulsion of foulants and bacterial cells.

Synthesis, molecular modeling, 3D-QSAR and biological evaluation studies of new benzimidazole derivatives as potential MAO-A and MAO-B inhibitors

Meryem Erol et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of new benzimidazole derivatives were designed and synthesized as potential MAO-A and MAO-B inhibitors. The compounds showed promising inhibitory activity against the target enzymes, and their interactions with proteins were investigated through molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations. The key structural fragments responsible for the inhibition on MAO-A and MAO-B were identified using CoMFA models. ADME calculations indicated good drug-like properties for the compounds. X-ray diffraction analysis and spectroscopic techniques were employed for structural characterization.

A DFT investigation on theranostic potential of alkaline earth metal doped phosphorenes for ifosfamide anti-cancer drug

Hira Karim et al.

Summary: Density functional theory (DFT) simulations were used to investigate the potential of doped phosphorenes for drug delivery, photothermal therapy, and photoimaging guided cancer diagnosis. The results showed that doping increased drug adsorption energy and drug release, as well as enhanced the polarity of the drug-carrying system. Therefore, doped phosphorenes could be potential candidates for photothermal therapy and photoimaging guided cancer diagnosis.
