Electronic properties and interfacial coupling in Pb islands on single-crystalline graphene

Jing-Peng Song et al.

Summary: Introducing metal thin films on two-dimensional materials can create systems with exotic properties due to reduced dimensionality and interfacial effects. By depositing Pb islands on single-crystalline graphene on a Ge(110) substrate, robust quantum well states are observed, indicating the isolation of free electrons in Pb from the graphene substrate. The spectral characteristics of these states are consistent with a free-standing Pb film, and there is no superconductivity in graphene in close proximity to the superconducting Pb islands, indicating weak interface coupling.

Observation of quadratic magnetoresistance in twisted double bilayer graphene

Yanbang Chu et al.

Summary: In this study, we report the magnetoresistance of metallic states in twisted double bilayer graphene (TDBG). Quadratic magnetoresistance is observed in both Moire valence band and Moire conduction band. The scaling analysis shows the validity of Kohler's rule in the Moire valence band, while the presence of quadratic magnetoresistance near the halo structure in the Moire conduction band violates Kohler's rule, demonstrating a different scaling related to band structure in TDBG. An alternative scaling near the halo structure is proposed. Further analysis suggests that the observed quadratic magnetoresistance and alternative scaling in the conduction band are related to the halo boundary.

RKKY interaction of in nodal-line semimetals

Zhong-Yi Wang et al.

Summary: Motivated by recent upsurge in research of three-dimensional topological semimetals, this study theoretically investigates the RKKY interaction between magnetic impurities in nodal-line semimetals with and without chirality, and obtains the analytical expressions. The study finds that the unique toroidal Fermi surface in nodal-line semimetals, distinct from the spheroidal Fermi surface in semimetals with point nodes, has a significant influence on the RKKY interaction, leading to strong anisotropic oscillation and unique decay features.
