Tuning Diradical Properties of Boron-Containing π-Systems by Structural Isomerism

Xinyu Tian et al.

Summary: Tuning the diradical character and properties of organic diradicaloids can be achieved through precise borylation reactions. The synthesized B-containing polycyclic hydrocarbon exhibits distinctive electronic structures and properties compared to its isomeric molecule. Moreover, it shows smaller diradical character and enhanced Lewis acidity, which can further enhance its diradical performance through Lewis coordination.

One-dimensional coordination polymers based on metal-nitrogen linkages

Jinyu Zhao et al.

Summary: This review focuses on N-donor ligand-based one-dimensional coordination polymers (1D CPs) developed since 2015, including their chemical compositions, synthesis methodologies, topological structures, and structure-property relationships. The N-donor ligands are classified according to N-donor functional groups, and the challenges and outlook of N-donor ligand-based 1D CPs are discussed.

Boron-Containing Organic Diradicaloids: Dynamically Modulating Singlet Diradical Character by Lewis Acid-Base Coordination

Jiaxiang Guo et al.

Summary: Organic diradicaloids have unique open-shell structures and properties, and introducing boron atoms into their structures can enhance their stability and lead to intriguing magnetic and optoelectronic properties. The B-containing organic diradicaloids reported in this article exhibit excellent ambient stability, open-shell singlet diradical structures, and unique Lewis acidity, demonstrating promising potential for novel applications in organic electronics and spintronics.

Regulating the Spin State of Nickel in Molecular Catalysts for Boosting Carbon Dioxide Reduction

Xiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents a hydrazine-pretreatment strategy to achieve high-spin-state nickel centers in nickel catalysts, resulting in enhanced CO2 reduction activity and higher CO faradaic efficiency. The high-spin-state nickel exhibits stronger adsorption of CO2 and intermediates, which accelerates the CO2 reduction reaction.

Stable Boron-Containing Blue-Photoluminescent Radicals

Zhongtao Feng et al.

Summary: The study focuses on developing synthetic strategies to create new stable luminescent radicals with desired emission wavelengths. Two dioxoborocyclic radicals were isolated and characterized with UV, EPR spectroscopy, and SQUID measurements. Both radicals produced blue photoluminescence through radiative decay from higher excited states to the ground state, breaking Kasha rule. This work presents a new kind of radical emitters and the first stable radicals with blue emission bands.

A stable triplet diradical emitter

Zhongtao Feng et al.

Summary: This study isolated two borocyclic diradicals with different substituents, one of which was identified as an open shell singlet diradical, while the other was found to be a triplet ground state diradical with a large singlet-triplet energy gap. Both diradicals showed multiple fluorescence peaks and have potential applications in material design and organic semiconductors.
