Metal-Organic framework-based Wood Aerogel for Effective Removal of Micro/Nano plastics

Dongyu You et al.

Summary: Research has successfully utilized a composite material ZIF-8@Aerogel to remove microplastics in simulated water and seawater, including smaller particles of poly(1,1-difluoroethylene) and polystyrene. This work is expected to provide a new and efficient way to address the removal of small-sized microplastic particles in the environment.

An insight into aggregation kinetics of polystyrene nanoplastics interaction with metal cations

Yucheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The aggregation kinetics of polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) in the aquatic environment are influenced by metal cation concentration and solution pH. Different sizes of PS-NPs exhibit different aggregation patterns for monovalent and divalent cations. PS-NPs have the capability to adsorb heavy metal cations and transport them over long distances.

Removal of Polystyrene Microplastics from Aqueous Solution Using the Metal-Organic Framework Material of ZIF-67

Hongyou Wan et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the adsorption capacity of a novel metal-organic framework material ZIF-67 for removing polystyrene microplastics from aqueous solutions, demonstrating a high removal efficiency of 92.1%. The adsorption of PSMPs by ZIF-67 was favored at pH 8, with a PSMPs solution concentration of 5 mg/L, and a temperature of 298 K.

In-situ formation of Ag2O in metal-organic framework for light-driven upcycling of microplastics coupled with hydrogen production

Jibo Qin et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of heterojunction photocatalysts for light-driven upcycling of microplastics (MPs). A novel synthesis method was developed to create semiconductor nanoparticles within metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to prevent agglomeration. The synthesized Ag2O/Fe-MOF photocatalyst can convert MPs into value-added chemicals, accompanied by hydrogen production. This research provides insights into the design of advanced photocatalysts and the conversion of MPs into valuable chemicals while generating clean energy.
