Recent advances in CO2 capture and reduction

Kecheng Wei et al.

Summary: This review discusses recent advances in CO2 capture and conversion chemistry and processes, including the development of adsorbent materials, thermochemical CO2 hydrogenation, and electrochemical CO2 reduction. The success of these reactions relies on efficient catalysts and rational engineering of the catalyst-electrolyte interfaces. The review also covers studies on integrating CO2 capture and conversion processes and explores new approaches and future directions for coupling direct air capture and CO2 conversion technologies.

Highly Efficient and Selective N-Formylation of Amines with CO2 and H2 Catalyzed by Porous Organometallic Polymers

Yajing Shen et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates that porous organometallic polymers can serve as highly efficient and recyclable catalysts for transforming CO2 into fine chemicals. The specific surface area, iridium content, and CO2 adsorption capability play vital roles in achieving excellent selectivity and yields. Density functional theory calculations revealed a new catalytic mechanism that contributed to achieving record turnover numbers for the synthesis of N,N-dimethylformamide.

Double-Carrousel Mechanism for Mn-Catalyzed Dehydrogenative Amide Synthesis from Alcohols and Amines

Jesus A. Luque-Urrutia et al.

Summary: The mechanism of a base-metal-catalyzed synthesis of amides from alcohols and amines was studied using density functional theory calculations. The proposed reaction mechanism differs from the preliminary proposal, suggesting a simpler protocol. The catalyst first converts alcohols into aldehydes, which then react with amines to form the desired amides.

An effective strategy for hydrogen supply: catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation of N-heterocycles

Yujing Zhang et al.

Summary: The growing demand for new energy supply systems worldwide due to mobile applications has led to increased interest in effective hydrogen supply strategies. N-Heterocycles have shown potential for hydrogen storage and release, making catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation a promising pathway for improving hydrogen storage, transportation, and distribution. However, challenges such as harsh catalytic conditions and unstable catalysts have hindered research on decentralized pure hydrogen supply based on N-heterocycles dehydrogenation. Efforts are needed to explore simple, efficient, stable, controllable, green catalytic systems for this transformation.
