CXCL1: Gene, Promoter, Regulation of Expression, mRNA Stability, Regulation of Activity in the Intercellular Space

Jan Korbecki et al.

Summary: CXCL1 is an important chemokine involved in the development of inflammatory diseases. Its expression is elevated in inflammatory reactions and it plays important roles in physiology. This paper presents the mechanisms of CXCL1 expression regulation with a focus on cancer, including transcription regulation, mRNA stability, and activity regulation in the extracellular space. The role of CXCL1 in cancer and potential therapeutic approaches are also discussed.

BDE-47 induced PC-12 cell differentiation via TrkA downstream pathways and caused the loss of hippocampal neurons in BALB/c mice

Dongmeng Liu et al.

Summary: Research has shown that BDE-47 can lead to changes in cell morphology, apoptosis, and ROS production in PC-12 cells, as well as promote cell differentiation. Animal studies confirmed that BDE-47 causes a decrease in neurons in the brain, and transcriptome sequencing revealed significant regulation of multiple signaling pathways related to neuron death and nerve function.

Prenatal exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and cognitive ability in early childhood

Naomi Azar et al.

Summary: The study found that prenatal exposure to background levels of PBDEs, especially BDE-47, was associated with lower IQ scores in boys, but not in girls. This suggests that exposure to PBDEs during early development may have a sex-dependent and detrimental effect on a child's neurodevelopmental trajectory.

Curcumin hinders PBDE-47-induced neutrophil extracellular traps release via Nrf2-associated ROS inhibition

Shuzi Ye et al.

Summary: The research revealed that PBDE-47 significantly induced the formation of NETs, mainly related to ROS burst, while Cur inhibited PBDE47-induced NETs formation by interfering with Nrf2 to reduce ROS. This provides a new direction for developing Cur as an antagonist for immune injury related to PBDE-47.

Health risk assessment and development of human health ambient water quality criteria for PBDEs in China

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: PBDEs are highly efficient brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and typical persistent organic pollutants (POPs) widely distributed in various environmental media. The study found heavy pollution of PBDEs in eastern and southeastern coastal regions of China, with varying concentrations in different exposure media. Dust exposure was the primary pathway for urban and rural residents in ordinary regions, while dietary exposure was the main pathway for residents in key regions and occupational workers. BDE-209 was identified as the most serious individual PBDE congener in China.

Valeria Longo et al.

Summary: PBDE-47 can affect the expression of intracellular miRNAs and interfere with the biogenesis of sEVs, leading to an overload of specific immune-related miRNAs. Studies have shown that sEVs derived from PBDE-47 can modulate macrophage immune responses.

Summary: This study found that the environmentally relevant concentration of BDE-47 can induce male reproductive toxicity in mice by affecting molecules related to free radical scavenging, cell death and survival, neurological disease, and inflammatory response. Further research revealed that MYC may play a role in male reproductive toxicity.
