Reveal Bronsted-Evans-Polanyi relation and attack mechanisms of reactive oxygen species for photocatalytic H2O2 production

Jun Luo et al.

Summary: The study found that nitrogen-deficient and boron-doped g-C3N4 can be used for photocatalytic H2O2 production, where the reaction mechanism is mainly influenced by the interaction between active species and proton donor. Among different reaction mechanisms, 1O2, center dot O2- and holes play dominant roles, while H2O2 generation may be limited by the dissociation of proton donor or desorption of H+ on the catalyst surface.

Design, Fabrication, and Mechanism of Nitrogen-Doped Graphene-Based Photocatalyst

Chuanbiao Bie et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped graphene (NG) as a derivative of graphene, with the ability to break the undifferentiated structure, open the bandgap, and provide an uneven electron density distribution, retains the advantages of graphene while offering novel properties for photocatalysis. With wide applications in hydrogen production, CO2 reduction, pollutant degradation, and other directions, NG-based photocatalysis shows great potential for addressing energy and environmental challenges.

Elemental mercury removal by I--doped Bi2WO6 with remarkable visible-light-driven photocatalytic oxidation

Yili Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, iodine-doped Bi2WO6 composites were synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal method to evaluate their photocatalytic efficiency in gas-phase elemental mercury removal under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that 1.0 wt.% iodine-doped Bi2WO6 exhibited the optimal Hg-0 removal efficiency due to reduced potential energy in the conduction band, decreased recombination rate of electron-hole pairs, and accelerated charge transfer. The density functional theory calculations suggested that iodine doping occurred in the (WO4)(2-) layer, facilitating the adsorption of oxidized HgO on the surface of the doped Bi2WO6.
