Building energy performance of DSSC BIPV windows in accordance with the lighting control methods and climate zones

Ji Yeon Hyun et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the total energy consumption of DSSC BIPV windows in office buildings in different climate zones and proposed power generation efficiency standards for energy conservation. The study found that DSSCs consume a significant amount of lighting energy, and lighting control methods can reduce energy consumption. Additionally, improving the power generation performance of DSSCs can further decrease energy consumption.

A low-cost, vein graphite/tin oxide nanoparticles based composite counter electrode for efficient dye-sensitized solar cells

M. A. K. L. Dissanayake et al.

Summary: The use of graphite/SnO2 composite counter electrode in dye sensitized solar cells leads to a significant improvement in efficiency, with the best performance exhibited by the composite made with 3.0 ml colloidal SnO2 solution and 0.05 g of graphite powder. The highly porous nanostructure of the composite provides more reaction sites, resulting in the efficiency enhancement.

In situ grown hierarchical NiCo2O4@MnMoO4 core-shell nanoarrays on carbon cloth as high-performance counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells

Xiaobo Chen et al.

Summary: The core-shell NiCo2O4@MnMoO4/CC composite shows significantly improved electrochemical performance compared to other CEs, due to the combination of outer-sphere MnMoO4 nanosheet and inner-sphere NiCo2O4 nanowires on carbon cloth, providing a large electrochemical surface area and lower charge-transfer and series resistances. The DSSCs device with NiCo2O4@MnMoO4/CC CE achieved a high power conversion efficiency of 11.87% and maintained 90.9% efficiency for up to 10 days, demonstrating its potential for efficient and cost-effective use in DSSCs and related fields.

Anion Dependent Particle Size Control of Platinum Nanoparticles Synthesized in Ethylene Glycol

Johanna Schroeder et al.

Summary: The study found that in polyol synthesis, controlling the size of nanoparticles (NPs) depends more on the nature of the precursor (metal salt) rather than the anion present in the base. For certain precursors such as H2PtCl6 or H2Pt(OH)(6), the size control depends on the base anion/Pt molar ratio.

Density Functional Theory and Machine Learning Description and Prediction of Oxygen Atom Chemisorption on Platinum Surfaces and Nanoparticles

David S. Rivera Rocabado et al.

Summary: Elucidating chemical interactions between catalyst surfaces and adsorbates is crucial for understanding surface chemical reactivity. The interactions between O atoms and Pt surfaces and nanoparticles were described using a linear combination of properties of pristine surfaces and isolated nanoparticles. The model for O binding energy on Pt surfaces and nanoparticles showed good accuracy, with a relatively high coefficient of determination and low mean absolute error.
