Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of indole-based hydroxamic acid derivatives as histone deacetylase inhibitors

Bei-Er Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of substituted indole-based hydroxamic acid derivatives were designed and synthesized, showing potent antiproliferative activities in various tumor cell lines. Compound 4o was identified as the most potent inhibitor of HDAC1 and HDAC6, exhibiting excellent in vitro anti-tumor proliferation activity and inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Compound 4o also showed promising results in an HCT116 xenograft mouse model.

BRAF Mutation Is Associated with Hyperplastic Polyp-Associated Gastric Cancer

Rina Fujiwara-Tani et al.

Summary: Analysis of samples from 102 GHP patients revealed that atypia in GHP increased with age and polyp size, especially in polyps larger than 1 cm, which were associated with higher grade dysplasia and cancer. Atypia was correlated with enhanced proliferative ability and nuclear 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine levels. In cases of HPAGC, those with a BRAF mutation may represent a novel subtype that does not involve H. pylori infection, showing high stemness and p53 protein accumulation.

Guanidine-functionalized graphene to improve the antifouling performance of boron acrylate polymer

Zixu Zhang et al.

Summary: A series of antifouling composite coatings based on guanidine-functionalized graphene and self-polishing boron acrylate polymer were prepared, exhibiting excellent algae anti-adhesion performance and high antibacterial rates. The tight binding of inorganic and organic compounds at the interface, as well as the exposure of guanidine-functionalized graphene on the surface, contribute to the promising antifouling capability of BAP/GNG for potential marine applications.

EphB4 as a Novel Target for the EGFR-Independent Suppressive Effects of Osimertinib on Cell Cycle Progression in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Ren Nanamiya et al.

Summary: Osimertinib exerts significant inhibitory effects on cell growth and progression independently of EGFR by promoting the phosphorylation of p53 and p21 and decreasing cyclin D1 expression. EphB4 is significantly suppressed by osimertinib and promotes cell growth and sensitivity to osimertinib. EphB4 is associated with the EGFR-independent suppressive effects of osimertinib on cell cycle and with a poor clinical outcome.

Novel Fluorescence Guanidine Molecules for Selective Sulfate Anion Detection in Water Complex Samples over a Wide pH Range

Pedro J. Pacheco-Linan et al.

Summary: The incorporation of guanidine motifs into fluorescence anion sensors has led to the development of a highly selective and sensitive sulfate ion receptor, which remains functional under different pH conditions. The new receptor has significantly higher global and partial affinity constants for complex formation compared to current sulfate sensors, resulting in a lower detection limit in water.
