Progress and challenges of contaminate removal from wastewater using microalgae biomass

Shams Forruque Ahmed et al.

Summary: The utilization of microalgae in treating wastewater has shown high efficiency in removing nutrients and heavy metals from different types of wastewater. However, challenges such as the impact of parameters like temperature, biomass productivity, osmotic ability, pH, and O2 concentration on nutrient removal in wastewater need to be addressed. Conducting pilot-scale studies and exploring the complexities of contaminants under complex environmental conditions are recommended for further research.
