Formation of NO2- and NO3- in the sonolysis of water: Temperature- and pressure-dependent reactions in collapsing air bubbles

Kenji Okitsu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the formation of NO2- and NO3- in sonolysis of water, evaluating the relationship between the chemical properties of collapsing air bubbles and ultrasonic power. Results show that the pressure of bubbles has a greater impact on chemical reactions than temperature under different conditions.

Bubble coalescence in electrolytes: Effect of bubble approach velocity

Sandra Orvalho et al.

Summary: Experimental study on the coalescence of air bubbles in aqueous solutions of electrolytes reveals that the coalescence efficiency decreases with electrolyte concentration and bubble velocity, while the contact time decreases with bubble velocity but increases with electrolyte concentration. The transition from coalescence to noncoalescence proceeds via a minimum in the T(V) graphs, and bubble size affects the extent of the coalescence region.

Experimental investigation on bubble coalescence regimes under non-uniform electric field

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of bubble interactions in ethanol under a direct current electric field using high-speed photography. Different regimes of bubble coalescence were identified, and it was observed that bubble dynamics in the electric field were different from those reported in literature. The increase in Weber number and electrical Bond number influenced the frequency of bubble coalescence.

Bubble drag in electrolytically generated microbubble swarms with bubble-vortex interactions

Yasunori Watanabe et al.

Summary: This study proposes novel probabilistic empirical models for the rise velocity and bubble drag of a microbubble swarm, incorporating bubble-vortex interactions. Convective interactions between bubbles and vortex-induced flows are found to accelerate bubbles and align them along paths in the flow, resulting in an increase in rise velocity and its variance in the statistical equilibrium state.

Enhancement of electric field on bubble dispersion characteristics in leaky-dielectric liquid medium

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: The dispersion characteristics of bubbles in a leaky-dielectric liquid under a non-uniform electric field were investigated, revealing that bubble size decreases and evolution process speeds up as electric Bond number increases. An empirical correlation for the dripping pattern of bubbles was established based on the experimental data, which is significant for modeling bubble dispersion.
