A solar photothermocatalytic approach for the CO2 conversion: Investigation of different synergisms on CoO-CuO/brookite TiO2-CeO2 catalysts

Roberto Fiorenza et al.

Summary: The study combined the photoactive features of the least common polymorph of TiO2, brookite, with the thermocatalytic redox properties of cerium oxide, showing that small amounts of Co-Cu oxides can enhance solar CO2 conversion. Surface segregation of hosted metal oxides on the TiO2-CeO2 composite was observed, leading to increased oxygen vacancies and improved charge carriers separation, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction at room temperature.

Janus charged polyamide nanofilm with ultra-high separation selectivity for mono-/divalent ions

Ze-Lin Qiu et al.

Summary: A facile and universal method was developed to fabricate polyamide NF membranes with ultra-high separation selectivity to both mono-/divalent anions and cations. By incorporating PAMAM dendrimers with different terminal quaternary ammonium groups into the polyamide matrix, the charge properties and network structures of the nanofilms were modulated, resulting in a high efficiency in mixed ion separation process. The Janus charged PA nanofilm, contributed by the heterogeneous distribution of PAMAM G5-TAC2, exhibited ultra-high separation selectivity to mono-/divalent anions and cations above 65, achieved through the synergistic effect of steric and Donnan effects.

Janus copper mesh with asymmetric wettability for on-demand oil/water separation and direction-independent fog collection

Wei Zhou et al.

Summary: The traditional methods for preparing Janus membranes are either too complex or lack precise control over surface wettability, layer thickness, and pore structure. This study successfully regulated asymmetric wettability and layer thickness on copper mesh using an interface-confined surface engineering strategy, enabling efficient liquid manipulation. The Janus copper mesh demonstrated superior performance in oil/water separation and fog collection, showing potential for applications in various fields.
