Single-step fabrication of highly stable amorphous TiO2 nanotubes arrays (am-TNTA) for stimulating gas-phase photoreduction of CO2 to methane

Janaina S. Santos et al.

Summary: This study investigated the facile fabrication of interfacial defects assisted amorphous TiO2 nanotubes arrays for promoting gas-phase CO2 photoreduction to methane. The am-TNTA catalyst demonstrated high chemical stability, a large exposed surface area, and a significant number of surface traps that can reduce the recombination of charge carriers. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of am-TNTA can be attributed to its amorphous structure with surface defects, particularly OH groups acting as electron traps to increase electron lifetime, facilitating CO2 conversion to methane.

Photocatalytic oxidation of glyphosate and reduction of Cr(VI) in water over ACF-supported CoNiWO4-gCN composite under batch and flow conditions

Umair Alam et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic treatment of wastewater using nanomaterials is an efficient energy saving technology. In this study, CNW-gCN/ACF nanocomposite is synthesized and used as a photo catalyst for efficient removal of glyphosate and Cr(VI) from water. The photocatalytic efficiency of CNW-gCN/ACF in the simultaneous removal of both pollutants from co-contaminated feed is found to be greater than that in single feed system under identical experimental conditions.

Conversion of CO2 to formate using activated carbon fiber-supported g-C3N4-NiCoWO4 photoanode in a microbial electrosynthesis system

Priyanka Gupta et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates for the first time the efficient formation of formate from CO2 in a photo-assisted microbial electrosynthesis system. The use of an activated carbon fiber-supported g-C3N4-NiCoWO4 photoanode and a g-C(3)N(4) biocathode leads to the enhanced suppression of electron-hole pairs and the formation of a Z-scheme heterojunction. The system achieves a high rate of formate synthesis under visible light irradiation.
