Recent Progress in the Development of MOF-Based Photocatalysts for the Photoreduction of Cr(VI)

Mohammad Jafarzadeh

Summary: There is a direct correlation between industrial development and pollution on Earth. Industrial activities generate pollutants that pose serious risks to human life and the environment. The concept of sustainability has emerged to address the environmental issues in chemical-based industries. However, pollutants continue to be discharged into water resources, creating a high demand for appropriate wastewater treatment techniques. Photocatalysis, utilizing sunlight irradiation for cost-effective remediation, has gained considerable attention. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted growing attention as photocatalysts due to their unique versatility and easy structural modulation. Numerous MOF-based photocatalysts have been widely used for the photoreduction of Chromium (VI).
