Untying the Bundles of Solution-Synthesized Graphene Nanoribbons for Highly Capacitive Micro-Supercapacitors

Zhaoyang Liu et al.

Summary: The precise synthesis of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with controlled width and edge structures is beneficial for overcoming the limitations of graphene, and GNRs with open-edge structures allow faster ion diffusion, showing great potential for energy storage systems. However, current solution-synthesized GNRs suffer from aggregation, which restricts their applications. Therefore, a facile and scalable approach is needed to exfoliate GNRs from aggregates. Here, a high-shear-mixing approach is demonstrated to untie GNR bundles into individual nanoribbons.

Construction of multiple electron transfer paths in 1D core-shell hetetrostructures with MXene as interlayer enabling efficient microwave absorption

Baojun Wang et al.

Summary: A versatile strategy was proposed for synthesizing 1D hierarchical core-shell structure with Co-ZIF arrays derived carbon nanotubes (CNTs) coupled on cotton fiber (CF)-supported MXene shell (Co/CNTs-MXene@CF). The designed heterogeneous composites consist of interlayer MXene and CNTs, grow sequentially from the outermost Co-ZIF nanosheet arrays, and exhibit optimal reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth for microwave absorption materials. This work provides a new design strategy for high-performance materials.

Ni/NiO/SiO2/C nanofibers with strong wideband microwave absorption and robust hydrophobicity

Yongqian Shen et al.

Summary: This study presents the preparation of multifunctional microwave absorbers with robust hydrophobicity and enhanced wave absorption. By electrospinning and in-situ annealing method, carbon nanofibers (CNFs) inlaid with Ni/NiO and SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared. The results showed that at an annealing temperature of 550 °C, Ni/NiO/SiO2/CNFs achieved the optimal reflection loss (RL) at 16.6 GHz and had a large effective absorption bandwidth (EAB). The introduction of nano SiO2 into Ni/NiO/CNFs improved the complex permittivity and widened the EAB. Additionally, the prepared membranes exhibited robust hydrophobicity. These nanofibers hold promise for multifunction wave absorbers.
