Fabrication of energetic aluminum core/hydrophobic shell nanofibers via coaxial electrospinning

Yueting Wang et al.

Summary: The study designed and manufactured novel core-shell nanofibers with superior hydrophobic characteristic and enhanced reaction performance using innovative coaxial electrospinning. The aluminum nanoparticles were effectively loaded on the core fibers, resulting in controllable exothermic property. The enhanced reaction performance was demonstrated through flame propagation velocity and plasma electron characteristics analysis.

Effects of Different Nanocarbon Materials on the Properties of Al/MoO3/NCM Thermite Prepared by Electrostatic Spinning

Mi Zhang et al.

Summary: The addition of nanocarbon materials to aluminum-containing thermite significantly improves thermal conductivity, energy performance, and combustion performance. The results show that the addition of nanocarbon materials improves the thermal conductivity of the thermite, with reduced graphene oxide having the most significant impact. The energy performance of the thermite spinning is optimal when the combustion oxygen equivalent ratio is 0.90-1.00.

Bifunctional core-shell nAl@MOF energetic particles with enhanced ignition and combustion performance

Kang Xue et al.

Summary: This study introduces the fabrication of two types of nAl@MOF energetic particles using an in-situ electrostatic self-assembly method, followed by characterization of their thermal properties, ignition, and combustion performances. The results show that nAl@MOF exhibits improved combustion properties with lower ignition delay time, higher peak pressure, and faster pressurization rate compared to conventional nAl particles, indicating a promising strategy for advanced aerospace fuels.

Electrostatic spraying synthesis of energetic RDX@NGEC nanocomposites

Ling Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel nanocomposite energetic material RDX@NGEC was successfully synthesized using electrostatic spraying technology, and its thermal decomposition properties and sensitivity were systematically investigated. The results showed that NGEC was uniformly coated on the surface of RDX, resulting in a significant reduction in particle size and sensitivity. Therefore, this novel nanocomposite energetic material holds potential applications in propellants and explosives.

TF-Al/TiC highly reactive composite particle for application potential in solid propellants

Deqi Wang et al.

Summary: Aluminum powder is commonly used in solid propellants for its specific impulse-improving properties. However, the presence of dense alumina (Al2O3) on the surface of aluminum can inhibit reactivity and heat release. By designing a highly reactive composite particle of thick flake Al/TiC (TF-Al/TiC), it was found that TF-Al/5%TiC exhibited the highest heat release (21419 J/g) and improved reactivity due to the decomposition of Al2O3 by TiC before 633 degrees C, leading to increased contact area between active Al and oxidant.

Alcohol-thermal synthesis of approximately core-shell structured Al@CuO nanothermite with improved heat-release and combustion characteristics

Kaiwen Shi et al.

Summary: Metastable intermolecular composites (MICs), also known as nanothermites, are synthesized using an alcohol-thermal technique in this study to create Al@CuO MICs with enhanced energy release characteristics. The research findings indicate that Al@CuO exhibits lower apparent activation energy for solid-state interfacial reaction and higher energy output, with a slightly fuel-rich formulation being preferred for combustion efficiency.
