Solar Photocatalytic Oxidation of Methane to Methanol with Water over RuOx/ZnO/CeO2 Nanorods

Dan Yu et al.

Summary: A RuOx decorated ZnO/CeO2 photocatalyst has been developed for the highly efficient and selective conversion of CH4 into CH3OH under simulated solar light irradiation. The CH3OH generation rate and selectivity over the optimized composite are significantly higher than those of a ZnO/CeO2 reference system. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to accelerated interfacial charge separation and increased production of free hydroxyl radicals from water oxidation in the presence of RuOx clusters.

An efficient strategy for selective oxidation of ammonia nitrogen into N2 over BiOCl photocatalyst

Yuanyi Zhou et al.

Summary: Selective oxidation of ammonia nitrogen into N-2 over BiOCl with high N-2 selectivity (>97%) is reported based on chlorine radical chemistry. The efficient Cl- conversion into reactive chlorine species and Cl--mediated Mars-van Krevelen mechanism contribute to the enhanced reactivity of the catalytic performance.

Efficient photocatalytic chlorine production on bismuth oxychloride in chloride solution

Haipeng Wang et al.

Summary: A novel light-driven chlorine evolution reaction (CER) using bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) photocatalyst in synthetic seawater has been reported, providing an economical and convenient route for Cl-2 production. The superior Cl-2 production rate achieved is sufficient for methane functionalization and production of chlorine-based disinfectant, opening up prospects for halogen production based on solar energy.

Fe/Fe3C Boosts H2O2 Utilization for Methane Conversion Overwhelming O2 Generation

Yicheng Xing et al.

Summary: By fabricating heterogeneous Fenton-type Fe-based catalysts containing Fe-N-x sites and Fe/Fe3C nanoparticles, the competition between the efficient utilization of H2O2 and undesired O-2 generation was studied. With finely tuned active sites, a high conversion rate for the selective oxidation of methane and excellent product selectivity were achieved, while O-2 generation was significantly suppressed.

Photoelectrocatalytic C-H halogenation over an oxygen vacancy-rich TiO2 photoanode

Zhenhua Li et al.

Summary: Photoelectrochemical cells have been proposed as promising tools for C-H functionalisation and H2 production. In this work, a photoelectrocatalytic strategy using an oxygen-vacancy-rich TiO2 photoanode was developed for efficient production of organic halides. This approach demonstrated broad substrate scope and high productivity using seawater as the electrolyte and chloride ions source.

Atomic-Scale Pd on 2D Titania Sheets for Selective Oxidation of Methane to Methanol

Xingyang Wu et al.

Summary: This study introduces a two-dimensional titania sheet-supported atomic-scale palladium catalyst, which exhibits high selectivity for converting methane to methanol. The atomically thin two-dimensional structure provides more anchoring sites to stabilize atomic-scale Pd-1 species, promoting the separation of charge carriers and the stability of the catalytic reaction.

Noble Metal-Free FeOOH/Li0.1WO3 Core-Shell Nanorods for Selective Oxidation of Methane to Methanol with Visible-NIR Light

Yi Zeng et al.

Summary: The study developed FeOOH/Li0.1WO3 core-shell nanorods to enhance the efficiency of photocatalytic conversion of methane to methanol. The introduction of lithium ions and the FeOOH-based Fenton-like reaction increased the generation of (OH)· radicals, leading to efficient formation of CH4OH under visible and near-infrared light.
