Creating Optimal Pockets in a Clathrochelate-Based Metal-Organic Framework for Gas Adsorption and Separation: Experimental and Computational Studies

Wei Gong et al.

Summary: In this work, a highly porous and robust metal-organic framework (MOF) called NU-200 was successfully designed and synthesized. Computational simulations showed that the hierarchical bowl-shaped nanopockets in NU-200 played a crucial role in enhancing the affinity for xenon. The unique pocket confinement effect was validated using a similarly sized probe, sulfur dioxide.

Pore Size Control via Multiple-Site Alkylation to Homogenize Sub-Nanoporous Covalent Organic Frameworks for Efficient Sieving of Xenon/Krypton

Zhimin Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, two novel sub-nanoporous COFs were synthesized and applied for the sieving of xenon/krypton for the first time. The as-prepared COFs demonstrated efficient adsorption and sieving of xenon/krypton due to their slightly larger pore sizes and good gamma-ray irradiation stability, showing great potential for practical applications in radioactive xenon/krypton separation. The multiple-site alkylation strategy proposed in this study provides a valuable approach for the construction and control of porous materials, especially sub-nanoporous adsorption materials.

Experimental study of the diffusion of Xe and Kr implanted at low concentrations in UO2 and determination of their trapping mechanisms

M. Gerardin et al.

Summary: The study highlights the significant influence of defects on the migration mechanisms of xenon and krypton, emphasizing the importance of considering them in accurately determining diffusion coefficients. The diffusion coefficient of Xe and Kr at 1300 degrees C was evaluated, showing that the diffusion of rare gases is subject to two trapping mechanisms.
