Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy detection of organic molecules and in situ monitoring of organic reactions by ion-induced silver nanoparticle clusters

Xiaoyue Li et al.

Summary: The study addresses challenges in reliable SERS detection of organic molecules and in situ monitoring of organic reactions by introducing calcium ions to aggregate silver nanoparticles and acetone to promote uniform distribution of organic molecules on the nanoparticle surface. The method demonstrates stable SERS detection of up to 6 types of organic molecules and real-time monitoring of 3 kinds of organic reactions, showing potential for applications in biomedical analysis, environmental analysis, and organic catalysis research.

A direct method for detecting proteins in body fluids by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy under native conditions

Dan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the aggregation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was optimized using dichloromethane (DCM) and CaCl2, enabling sensitive and reproducible surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) detection of unlabeled proteins while maintaining their native structure. The method showed good repeatability and a high quality in the analysis of protein samples. Furthermore, the technique allowed for protein quantification in mixtures and serum, and demonstrated promise for applications in food testing and clinical diagnosis.

Rapid detection of viruses: Based on silver nanoparticles modified with bromine ions and acetonitrile

Zhe Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed a detection platform based on Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) for rapid detection of the novel coronavirus. By introducing acetonitrile and calcium ions, the stability of silver nanoparticles was enhanced and highly sensitive SERS signals of the virus were elicited. Machine learning recognition technology was employed to distinguish different virus molecules, and a linear relationship between peak intensity and protein concentration was observed. This rapid detection method has broad applications in clinical diagnosis of viruses and management of emergent viral infectious diseases.

Label-Free Detection of DNA Supramolecular Structure Formation by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Ni Yang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a modified SERS-based platform for characterizing the structure of DNA supramolecular materials. By using acetonitrile and calcium ions, the formation of stable hotspots of silver nanoparticles was induced, enabling the enhancement of Raman signals of base ring in DNA supramolecules. The technique efficiently characterizes the structure of DNA supramolecules and holds great potential for applications in the analysis of nucleic acids and their ligands.

Gap controlled self-assembly Au@Ag@Au NPs for SERS assay of thiram

Jiale Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports a subtle surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for detecting the dithiocarbamate fungicide Thiram. By controlling the inter-particle spacing of gold-silver-gold nanoparticles, a remarkable enhancement of Raman signal and stability was achieved. This method holds potential for rapid assessment and identification of pesticides on foods.

Repeated double cross-validation applied to the PCA-LDA classification of SERS spectra: a case study with serum samples from hepatocellular carcinoma patients

Elisa Gurian et al.

Summary: Intense label-free surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of serum samples were rapidly obtained on Ag plasmonic paper substrates upon 785 nm excitation. Spectra from the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients showed consistent differences with respect to those of the control group. The PCA-LDA model using up to the first four principal components has a good classification performance (average accuracy was 81%), allowing confidence intervals to be calculated for the figures of merit.

Silver-Coated Disordered Silicon Nanowires Provide Highly Sensitive Label-Free Glycated Albumin Detection through Molecular Trapping and Plasmonic Hotspot Formation

Debadrita Paria et al.

Summary: A label-free surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy sensing platform utilizing silver-coated silicon nanowires has been developed to achieve highly sensitive and reproducible quantification of glycated albumin. This technology allows for visual detection of glycated albumin at levels as low as 500 x 10(-9) m, significantly below the physiological range.
