Stabilization of Pd-Ni alloy nanoparticles on Kryptofix 23 modified SBA-15 for catalytic enhancement

Michael Aalinejad et al.

Summary: A new strategy was reported for anchoring and stabilizing Pd-Ni alloy nanoparticles onto functionalized SBA-15, leading to high catalytic activity under ultrasound irradiation. The porous SBA-15 structure and high-affinity K23 ligand played a key role in the long-term stability and catalytic activity of the alloy nanoparticles. The proposed protocol showed a synergic effect between Pd and Ni metals for cross-coupling reactions, making it a greener and more suitable option for large-scale applications.

N-heterocyclic carbene coordinated metal nanoparticles and nanoclusters

Hui Shen et al.

Summary: This review provides an overview of the recent research advances in the use of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) as stabilizing agents and functionality modifiers for metal nanoparticles (NPs) and nanoclusters (NCs). It discusses the development of effective strategies for decorating metal NPs with NHCs and the improvements in catalytic performances achieved through NHC ligation on heterogeneous metal nanocatalysts. The review also highlights the synthesis of atomically precise NHC-stabilized metal NCs and their crystallographic structure analysis, which contribute to a better understanding of the carbene-metal interface at the atomic level. The review concludes with personal perspectives on the future development of this promising field.

N-Heterocyclic Carbene-Based Iridium and Ruthenium/Iridium Nanoparticles for the Hydrogen Isotope Exchange Reaction through C-H Bond Activations

Alejandra Zuluaga-Villamil et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of bimetallic lipo- and water-soluble Ru/Ir nanoparticles to overcome the reduction of aromatic rings in noble-metal catalyzed H/D exchange reactions. The bimetallic nanoparticles were found to disperse in both organic and aqueous media and showed selectivity in the H/D exchange of 2-phenylpyridine without reduction of the aromatic rings. This study highlights the importance of bimetallic nanoparticles and ligands in enhancing the efficiency and selectivity of H/D exchange reactions.

Nanocatalyzed Hydrogen Isotope Exchange

Marco Lepron et al.

Summary: Hydrogen isotope exchange (HIE) reactions have shown significant progress in recent years, playing a crucial role in the synthesis of tritium and deuterium-labeled compounds, as well as in improving the ADME properties of bioactive molecules. Nanocatalysis has been demonstrated as an effective tool for regio- and chemoselective labeling of complex molecules, bridging the gap between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis.

Palladium Nanoparticles for the Deuteration and Tritiation of Benzylic Positions on Complex Molecules

Viktor Pfeifer et al.

Summary: Palladium nanoparticles were shown to be efficient catalysts for hydrogen isotope exchange reactions on benzylic positions, providing high isotopic enrichments without the need for specific directing groups. This nanocatalyst also enabled the labeling of drug molecules with high specific activities using tritium gas at low pressures.
