Preparation of phosphorus-doped tungsten trioxide nanomaterials and their photocatalytic performances

Jiayu Sun et al.

Summary: A highly efficient and stable phosphorus-doped Tungsten trioxide (P-WO3) photocatalyst was successfully synthesized, with P uniformly doped into the WO3 lattice in pentavalent-oxidation state resulting in reduced band gap energy. The 6%-P-WO3 sample exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, degrading 96% of methyl blue within 120 min. The photocatalysis of P-WO3 was mainly initiated by the production of hydroxyl radical (·OH) and photogenerated hole (h(+)).
