Ultra-Stable and Durable Piezoelectric Nanogenerator with All-Weather Service Capability Based on N Doped 4H-SiC Nanohole Arrays

Linlin Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, an ultra-stable piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) based on N doped 4H-SiC nanohole arrays (NHAs) is proposed for harvesting ambient energy under different temperature and humidity conditions. The simulation results show a relationship between nanohole diameter and piezoelectric performance. The assembled PENG exhibits a high short circuit current density and demonstrates all-weather service capability even after 50 days of treatment.

TG-MS analysis on the degradation behavior and mechanism of amorphous SiCxOy phase in polyaluminocarbosilane-derived Si-Al-C-O fiber

Qin Ouyang et al.

Summary: This work investigates the high-temperature degradation process of SiCxOy phase in Si-Al-C-O fiber using TG-MS analysis. It is found that oxygen acts as a necessary initiator and accelerant in the degradation reaction. A possible mechanism is proposed based on the experimental results, and the different effects of CO in open and closed systems are observed and explained.

Cellular Response to Sol-Gel Hybrid Materials Releasing Boron and Calcium Ions

Soraia Alexandra Ramos Coelho et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the production of bioactive and biocompatible hybrid materials in the PDMS-SiO2-B2O3-CaO system by sol-gel, with controlled release of Ca and B. The structural features were assessed using FT-IR and NMR, showing the presence of hybrid bonds and borosiloxane bonds. In vitro tests demonstrated the precipitation of a calcium phosphate layer and controlled release of therapeutic ions, as well as improved cell behavior with increased dilution rate. The results suggest that the release of calcium and boron ions from the hybrid structure is crucial for cell response. Further studies are needed to fully understand the mechanisms involved.

Crosslinking of Active Polycarbosilane Initiated by Free Radical and Its Application in the Preparation of SiC Fibers

Wang Yuanjie et al.

Summary: In this study, polycarbosilane containing acrylate group was used as raw material for SiC ceramic fibers, with a thermal free radical initiator introduced to improve crosslinking rate and ceramic yield during pyrolysis. Various analyses were conducted to study the effects of initiator content on crosslinking degree and thermal degradation rate, while also examining the evolution of ceramic yield, composition, and structure with temperature. The introduction of the thermal initiator improved the crosslinking rate and reduced thermal loss, resulting in well-formed SiC fibers with increasing crystallinity at higher pyrolysis temperatures.
