Blue LED-pumped intense short-wave infrared luminescence based on Cr3+-Yb3+-co-doped phosphors

Yan Zhang et al.

Summary: Extensive research on infrared light sources is being conducted due to the growing demand for spectroscopy applications in agriculture, retail, and healthcare. The development of ideal blue-pumped short-wave infrared (SWIR) phosphors is crucial for the design of cost-effective and high-performance phosphor-converted infrared LEDs. In this study, we have developed a series of SWIR-emitting materials with high efficiency and stability by co-doping Cr3+-Yb3+ ion pairs into Lu0.2Sc0.8BO3 host materials. The resulting Lu0.2Sc0.8BO3:Cr3+,Yb3+ phosphor emits intense SWIR light in the 900-1200 nm range under blue light excitation and shows promising potential for practical applications.

Luminescence, energy transfer, and color adjustment of CaO-CaF2-Al2O3- B2O3-SiO2 glass co-doped with CeO2 and Sm2O3

Yin-Po Qiao et al.

Summary: A series of CaO-CaF2-Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2-xCeO(2)-ySm(2)O(3) glasses were designed and prepared to investigate the influence of Sm2O3 and CeO2 on the structure, luminescence, and color. It was found that the quenching concentration of Sm2O3 is 1.0 mol% due to dipole-dipole interactions. The photoluminescence spectra of codoped samples showed characteristic transitions of Ce3+ and Sm3+ ions, with the PL intensity varying with the Ce/Sm ratio, indicating energy transfer between the ions.

Summary: Dy3+ doped and Dy3+/Eu3+ co-doped zinc phosphate barium titanate (ZPBT) glasses were successfully synthesized using melt quenching procedure. The co-doped glasses exhibit emission peaks in various spectral regions, producing white light and orangish-red light. Tunable emission is achieved by adjusting Eu3+ concentrations and excitation wavelengths, and the co-doped glasses demonstrate strong thermal stability.

Spectroscopic inquiry of CuO-doped borate glasses in the 50B2O3-25Li2O-25BaO ternary

Jose A. Jimenez

Summary: Borate glasses with various CuO concentrations were synthesized and characterized. High CuO content led to higher glass transition temperatures and increased BO4 units, as well as a visible increase in Cu2+ absorption band around 740 nm and a decrease in optical band gap energies. The presence of ionic copper was suggested to contribute to a more uniform glass structure.
