Effects of IrO2 nanoparticle sizes on Ir/Al2O3 catalysts for the selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia

Yixi Wang et al.

Summary: Gaseous ammonia, especially that emitted from NH3-SCR units, is potential harmful. In this study, different crystal structures of Al2O3 supported Ir catalysts were prepared and their performance in selective catalytic oxidation of NH3 was evaluated. Ir/gamma-Al2O3 catalyst showed better performance with 99% NH3 conversion at 260°C. The analysis of crystal structure and active species revealed the importance of these factors in catalytic activity. The activity of reactive oxygen species and the formation of -NH2 were found to be crucial for the NH3 oxidation reaction.

Nano-sized Ag rather than single-atom Ag determines CO oxidation activity and stability

Fei Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Ag-0 nanoparticle has an advantage over single-atom Ag species in its intrinsic activity for CO oxidation. The larger Ag-0 particle benefits oxygen activation and improves valence stability during oxidation reactions, leading to superior performance in CO oxidation.

Understanding the Distinct Effects of Ag Nanoparticles and Highly Dispersed Ag Species on N2 Selectivity in NH3-SCO Reaction

Haifeng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Ag/Al2O3-X catalysts were designed by manipulating the calcination temperature to improve the N-2 selectivity in NH3-SCO reaction. It was found that highly dispersed Ag species (Ag HDs) on the Ag/Al2O3-800 catalyst achieved over 99% N-2 selectivity, and the intermediates and transformations of the reaction were detected by in situ DRIFTS.

Unraveling the Mechanism of Ammonia Selective Catalytic Oxidation on Ag/Al2O3 Catalysts by Operando Spectroscopy

Guangyan Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of ammonia selective catalytic oxidation (NH3-SCO) on Ag/Al2O3 catalysts using operando spectroscopy. The results showed that silver nanoparticles are the active sites for NH3 oxidation, while silver cations are inert in this reaction. The NH3-SCO reaction on 10 wt % Ag/Al2O3 could be divided into three regions, and the reaction pathway is closely related to oxygen activation on the silver nanoparticles.

Zeolite-driven Ag species during redox treatments and catalytic implications for SCO of NH3

Summary: Supported silver species are promising catalysts for NH3-SCO, with silver clusters inactive while metal particles are active sites. Reduced silver species in different zeolite structures display varying stability and catalytic activities under oxidizing or reaction conditions at 400 degrees C. Specifically, silver clusters are stabilized in RHO-type zeolites and inactive in CHA-type zeolites for NH3-SCO reaction.
