Conversion of methane to acetonitrile over GaN catalysts derived from gallium nitrate hydrate co-pyrolyzed with melamine, melem, or g-C3N4: the influence of nitrogen precursors

Korawich Trangwachirachai et al.

Summary: Co-pyrolyzing gallium nitrate hydrate and melamine, melem, or g-C3N4 generates gallium nitride (GaN) for the conversion of methane to acetonitrile (AcCN). The solid-state-pyrolysis-made GaN catalysts exhibited better activity than commercial GaN. Among the as-prepared catalysts, GaN made by using g-C3N4 with a N/Ga ratio of 2 (i.e., GaN-(C3N4)-(2)) showed the highest initial methane conversion and AcCN productivity.

The In-situ Growth NiFe-layered Double Hydroxides/g-C3N4 Nanocomposite 2D/2D Heterojunction for Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Performance

Xiaoya Zhao et al.

Summary: The tightly 2D/2D heterojunction of g-C3N4/NiFe-layered double hydroxides (NiFe-LDH) prepared in situ showed improved transfer pathway of photogenerated electrons and holes, resulting in reduced recombination rate and increased efficiency and selectivity for CO2 reduction. The addition of g-C3N4 also modified the surface morphology and ductility of NiFe-LDH, providing more reaction sites for the reduction of CO2.

Catalytic Transformation of the Furfural Platform into Bifunctionalized Monomers for Polymer Synthesis

Jinlian Zhu et al.

Summary: Furfural, derived from raw agricultural materials, has limited market volume due to its mono-functional furan structure. However, exploration of new catalytic technologies to transform furfural into versatile bifunctional monomers may open up furfural-based biomass utilization and reduce concerns about carbon source scarcity. Development of bifunctional monomers from the furfural platform can potentially boost furfural-based hemicellulose utilization.

Switching production of γ-valerolactone and 1,4-pentanediol from ethyl levulinate via tailoring alkaline sites of CuMg catalyst and hydrogen solubility in reaction medium

Mengjiao Fan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that GVL and 1,4-PeD can be efficiently produced from ethyl levulinate (EL) by adjusting the copper content and abundance of basic sites in the CuMg catalyst, as well as selecting the appropriate reaction solvent. The presence of isopropanol as a solvent promotes the production of 1,4-PeD, while water as a reaction medium affects the stability of the CuMg catalyst.
