Variation in the Anatomy of the Normal Human Optic Chiasm: An MRI Study

Nicholas S. Bosler et al.

Summary: The human optic chiasm is H shaped, not X shaped, with nasal fibers decussating approximately 2.4 mm lateral to the midline before traveling in parallel across the midline. These findings will inform future studies on chiasmal compression.
