More Insights about the Efficacy of Copper Ion Treatment on Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP): A Clue for the Observed Tolerance

Carlos Tejeda et al.

Summary: Copper ions have a certain bactericidal effect on highly resistant microorganism MAP, but cannot completely control it. Copper concentration is a key factor in controlling highly resistant microorganisms.

Understanding the antibacterial mechanisms of copper ion treatment on Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis

Carlos Tejeda et al.

Summary: This study examined the mechanisms of action of copper ion treatment on the integrity of a highly resistant animal pathogen, Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). The findings showed that the treatment resulted in nucleic acid degradation and disintegration, increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and protein alteration. However, it had no effect on the integrity of the MAP cell wall. This new evidence about the observed tolerance in the MAP cell wall against copper ions could help improve the proposed copper-based treatment and achieve effective control of MAP in calf's milk.

Transcriptomic Response Analysis of Escherichia coli to Palladium Stress

Nadeem Joudeh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the stress-related effects of Palladium (Pd) on E. coli, showing that exposure to Pd nanoparticles induces differential expression of genes, disrupting cellular homeostasis and affecting the expression of ion transporters and metabolism genes. The results suggest potential to genetically engineer E. coli strains with enhanced capabilities for Pd nanoparticles synthesis.

Copper as an antimicrobial agent: recent advances

Intisar Salah et al.

Summary: Copper has a long history as an antimicrobial agent, with established mechanisms for its efficacy against microorganisms. Research shows that copper can kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi through various means, but direct comparisons are difficult due to differences in experimental conditions.
