Triterpenoids as Reactive Oxygen Species Modulators of Cell Fate

Taotao Ling et al.

Summary: Triterpenoid natural products play a crucial role in understanding mechanistic models of human diseases. They function as reactive oxygen species (ROS) modulators to regulate cell survival and function. These secondary metabolites induce various cell death modalities through ROS, affecting complex cell signaling pathways.

Virtual screening, molecular dynamics and structure-activity relationship studies to identify potent approved drugs for Covid-19 treatment

Md Mahbubur Rahman et al.

Summary: Computer-aided drug screening using molecular docking, MD simulations and SAR analysis identified promising drug repurposing candidates for COVID-19 treatment, including Simeprevir, Ergotamine, Bromocriptine and Tadalafil. Noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions play a dominant role in drug-Mpro complexes. The study also utilized MD simulations and MLR models for quantitative SAR analysis, achieving an 82% accuracy rate in predicting binding energies.

New Polyketides With Anti-Inflammatory Activity From the Fungus Aspergillus rugulosa

Qianqian Xu et al.

Summary: Two new polyketide compounds, asperulosins A and B, and one new prenylated small molecule, asperulosin C, along with nine known compounds were isolated from a fungus Aspergillus rugulosa. The new compounds showed potential as anti-inflammatory agents, inhibiting NO production and modulating cytokine secretion in a manner comparable to the positive control, dexamethasone.

Systematic Review of Anti-inflammatory Agents from Aspergillus Species

Miller Santos Ferreira et al.

Summary: Fungal metabolites from Aspergillus species are considered a rich source of compounds with significant anti-inflammatory properties, including alkaloids, butenolides, terpenoids, and polyketides. However, there is still a lack of in vivo evaluations of fungal metabolites in the literature, which is crucial to increase knowledge about their mechanisms of actions.
