Participatory development of CURA, a clinical ethics support instrument for palliative care

Malene Vera van Schaik et al.

Summary: Existing clinical ethics support instruments are considered useful but face obstacles in daily practice. Involving end users and stakeholders in developing new instruments, such as CURA, a four-step tool focusing on nurses and nurse assistants in palliative care, can help overcome limitations and improve feasibility. Participatory development, collaboration, and iterative co-creation are valuable approaches in enhancing ethics support instruments.

Defining ethical challenge(s) in healthcare research: a rapid review

Guy Schofield et al.

Summary: Despite the common usage of the term 'ethical challenge(s)' in academic research, there is a lack of agreed definition, leading to confusion and potential bias in data analysis and results. A rapid review of current healthcare research literature found that only 12 out of 72 studies provided an explicit definition of 'ethical challenge(s)', highlighting significant variation in scope and complexity. This highlights the need for further work in establishing acceptable definitional content to improve confidence in research findings in the field of bioethics.
