Removal of difenoconazole and nitenpyram by composite calcium alginate beads during apple juice clarification

Qizhen Zhou et al.

Summary: A novel genipin crosslinked calcium alginate/chitosan/polydopamine composite beads (g-Alg/CS/PDA) were synthesized for the removal of residual difenoconazole and nitenpyram during the clarification of apple juice. The adsorption parameters were optimized, and the adsorption behavior of beads was found to be heterogeneous, controlled by several factors. Hydrophobic and pi-pi conjugation interactions played a dominant role for the adsorption of difenoconazole, while hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions were the main factors for nitenpyram.

Adsorption of dyes methyl violet and malachite green from aqueous solution on multi-step modified rice husk powder in single and binary systems: Characterization, adsorption behavior and physical interpretations

Xun You et al.

Summary: A novel modified rice husk (MRH) was prepared as an adsorbent for removing cationic dyes. The MRH showed high adsorption capacity for methyl violet (MV) and malachite green (MG), both in single and binary systems. The adsorption kinetics and mechanism were investigated, revealing a multi-molecular mechanism with non-parallel adsorption directions. Additionally, synergistic and antagonistic effects were observed in the binary system. This study provides a new approach for developing low-cost, efficient, and reusable adsorbents for dye removal.

Theoretical design and preparation of ionic liquid-based magnetic nanoparticles for the magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction of benzimidazoles in human plasma

Rui Chen et al.

Summary: Conductor-like screening model for realistic solvents (COSMO-RS) is a useful tool for predicting the properties of solvents. This study used COSMO-RS to design and screen 144 ionic liquids (ILs) with affinity for benzimidazoles (BZDs). Ionic liquid-based magnetic nanoparticles (IL-MNPs) were prepared and showed excellent adsorption ability for BZDs. The magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction (MDSPE) method for BZDs was established and successfully applied to detect trace BZDs in human plasma. The results demonstrated the feasibility of theoretically screening ILs and designing IL-MNPs as specific adsorption materials.

Nan Zhao et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively investigates the influence of soil organic matter (SOM) functional groups on the adsorption of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using the SOM cluster method based on COSMO-RS theory. The results show that different functional groups in SOM have different effects on PAHs adsorption. Additionally, the impact of non-carbon-based functional groups in SOM on PAHs partitioning is examined for the first time.
