Salidroside alleviates cadmium-induced toxicity in mice by restoring the notch/HES-1 and RIP1-driven inflammatory signaling axis

Xing-Mei Shu et al.

Summary: In this study, the neuroprotective effects of salidroside (SAL) against Cd-induced toxicity were investigated. SAL attenuated Cd toxicity in cultured cells and protected mice from organic damage and cognitive deficits. It alleviated oxidative stress, glial cell activation, and pro-inflammatory factors elevation induced by Cd. Moreover, SAL maintained antioxidant enzyme activity and restored redox homeostasis, attenuating neuronal damage. It also inhibited Cd-induced inflammatory signaling pathway activation and neuronal loss. The findings suggest that SAL has potential anti-Cd effects and Rhodiola rosea is a promising plant for cultivation.
