Geographic variation and temporal trends in management and outcomes of cardiac arrest complicating acute myocardial infarction in the United States

Auras R. Atreya et al.

Summary: This study found significant regional disparities in the management and outcomes of AMI-CA. The West had a higher prevalence and more severe clinical conditions compared to the Northeast, Midwest, and South. Compared to the Northeast, the Midwest, West, and South had higher rates of coronary angiography, PCI, and MCS use, as well as higher in-hospital mortality.

The Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio Is an Important Indicator Predicting In-Hospital Death in AMI Patients

Zhenjun Ji et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in predicting the short-term prognosis of NSTEMI and STEMI. NLR showed better predict ability for in-hospital death after NSTEMI compared to other ratios, but its predictive ability was limited in STEMI.

The Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio Determines Clinical Efficacy of Corticosteroid Therapy in Patients with COVID-19

Jingjing Cai et al.

Summary: The study suggests that corticosteroid therapy is beneficial for non-diabetic COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms, identified by a neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) > 6.11 at admission. However, it also indicates that corticosteroid treatment may increase risks of hyperglycemia and infections for patients with an NLR <= 6.11 or with type 2 diabetes.

Association between Biomarkers of Oxidative Stress and Inflammation with Cardiac Necrosis and Heart Failure in Non-ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients and Various Degrees of Kidney Function

Stefanos Roumeliotis et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association between inflammation and oxidative stress markers with markers of cardiac function and necrosis in NSTEMI patients with varying degrees of kidney dysfunction. The results showed that patients with low EF at admission exhibited higher levels of several inflammatory markers and oxidative stress markers. Additionally, EF levels decreased with the progression of CKD, while BNP, IL-6, and TGF-beta 1 levels were significantly higher in the late stages of CKD.

Prognostic value of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction: A cohort study

Bryan Richard Sasmita et al.

Summary: This study found that in patients with CS complicating AMI, admission NLR > 7.3 was significantly associated with increased 30-day mortality and MACE. NLR > 7.3 is an independent predictor for higher risk of short-term adverse outcomes in these patients.

Predictive value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and red cell distribution width on death for ST segment elevation myocardial infarction

Guoli Lin et al.

Summary: This study explored the predictive value of NLR combined with RDW in the long-term prognosis of patients with STEMI after emergency PCI. The findings suggest that both NLR and RDW are independent predictors of cardiovascular death in STEMI patients and have a certain predictive value.
