Systematic review on barriers and facilitators of complex interventions for residents with dementia in long-term care

Claudia M. Groot Kormelinck et al.

Summary: This systematic review explores the barriers and facilitators influencing the implementation of complex interventions targeting neuropsychiatric symptoms and psychotropic drug use in long-term care. Key factors to successful implementation include strong leadership, communication and coordination between disciplines, management support, sufficient resources, and organizational culture. Barriers mainly relate to unstable organizations and perceived work pressures.

Promoting occupational therapy interventions in the Australian community aged care sector

Jennifer Culph et al.

Summary: The study found that many occupational therapists were hesitant to promote or sell their services and interventions, but their confidence level was higher when the program aligned with traditional service delivery models and organizational processes. When promoting the program, occupational therapists faced limited opportunities to directly promote it, as community case managers were mostly the main contact at the organization.

Implementation science issues in understanding, collecting, and using cost estimates: a multi-stakeholder perspective

Andria B. Eisman et al.

Summary: Understanding the resources needed and economic impacts across stakeholders is crucial for successful implementation and sustainability of evidence-based practices. Integrating multiple perspectives and priorities through a multi-level framework can aid in addressing conflicts and maximizing benefits within limited resources. Economic theory can help in understanding diverse perspectives and inform approaches to support appropriate decisions about resource allocation in implementation science.
