Developing a High-Resolution Emission Inventory of China?s Aviation Sector Using Real-World Flight Trajectory Data

Summary: Economic growth and globalization have led to a significant increase in civil aviation demand in China. This study used a real-world flight trajectory-based emission inventory to analyze the environmental impacts of China's aviation sector. The results showed that fuel consumption and CO2 emissions had two peaks in altitude distribution, while different pollutants displayed varying vertical distributions. The conventional calculation approach underestimated the emissions of CO2 and air pollutants from short-distance domestic flights.

A new inverse modeling approach for emission sources based on the DDM-3D and 3DVAR techniques: an application to air quality forecasts in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region

Summary: A new inversion method combining sensitivity analysis and 3DVAR techniques was developed for linear and nonlinear emission source modeling, with a simulation experiment conducted for a heavy haze case in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in 2016. Results showed that using a posteriori inversed ES could significantly improve underestimations of SO2 and NO2 during the heavy haze period, with simulation errors decreasing significantly.
