The Evolution of AGN Activity in Brightest Cluster Galaxies

T. Somboonpanyakul et al.

Summary: This study presents the analysis of WISE observations of the SPT-SZ cluster sample, finding a significant increase in the fraction of AGN-hosting BCGs at high redshift. These results are consistent with previous studies and may be linked to gas-rich mergers.

Probing Multiphase Gas in Local Massive Elliptical Galaxies via Multiwavelength Observations

P. Temi et al.

Summary: Through studying local massive elliptical galaxies, it is found that they contain rich multiphase gas, with some possibly acquired through condensation out of the diffuse halo surrounding the galaxies.

Gas condensation in brightest group galaxies unveiled with MUSE Morphology and kinematics of the ionized gas

V Olivares et al.

Summary: The origin of the cold gas in central galaxies in groups is still debated. Observations of 18 brightest group galaxies (BGGs) reveal complex gas morphologies, including filamentary structures, compact disks, and extended disks. The stellar component shows rotation-dominated kinematics, while the filamentary sources exhibit different and disturbed kinematics. Hα luminosity is found to correlate with cold molecular gas mass. Analysis of the thermodynamic properties suggests that the filamentary and compact disk structures may form from condensations of hot halo gas, similar to brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) in cool core clusters.

A 3.5 Mpc long radio relic in the galaxy cluster CIG 0217+70

D. N. Hoang et al.

Summary: Large-scale radio sources, such as halos and relics, are often detected in dynamically disturbed galaxy clusters, but their formation mechanisms remain not fully understood. By observing the galaxy cluster CIG 0217+70 with LOFAR and VLA, it was confirmed that a giant radio halo and multiple relics are present. The spectral properties of the relics suggest electron ageing and re-acceleration of radio-emitting electrons from fossil plasma originating in active galactic nuclei.

NuSTAR Observations of Abell 2163: Constraints on Non-thermal Emission

Randall A. Rojas Bolivar et al.

Summary: The study aims to confirm the existence of IC emission in the intracluster medium of galaxy clusters. By analyzing the IC flux in cluster A2163, researchers were able to constrain the average magnetic field strength within the cluster, providing new insights into the physical properties of galaxy clusters.
