An Empirical Background Model for the NICER X-Ray Timing Instrument

Ronald A. Remillard et al.

Summary: The study utilized an empirical three-parameter model based on observations to predict the background spectrum of the Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer. By applying filtering criteria to select background GTIs, the study estimated detection limits and identified the need for additional model parameters to improve predictions.

UV and X-ray pulse amplitude variability in the transitional millisecond pulsar PSR J1023+0038

A. Miraval Zanon et al.

Summary: The transitional millisecond pulsar PSR J1023+0038 emits UV and X-ray pulses, with variability in amplitude observed in both bands. The variations in pulse amplitude do not occur simultaneously in the UV and X-ray bands and are not correlated with the orbital phase. These oscillations in pulse amplitude may be caused by random variations in the mass accretion rate. The pulsed flux spectral distribution from X-ray to UV bands can be well fitted with a power-law relation, supporting a common physical mechanism underlying the emissions in PSR J1023+0038.

Simultaneous X-ray and radio observations of the transitional millisecond pulsar candidate CXOU J110926.4-650224 The discovery of a variable radio counterpart

F. Coti Zelati et al.

Summary: The study presents simultaneous observations of the tMSP candidate CXOU J110926.4-650224 using the XMM-Newton satellite and the MeerKAT telescope. The source exhibited peculiar variability patterns in both X-ray and radio emissions, but no significant correlated or anticorrelated variability was found between the two.

Optical and ultraviolet pulsed emission from an accreting millisecond pulsar

F. Ambrosino et al.

Summary: The study reports the detection of optical and ultraviolet coherent pulsations at the X-ray period of the transient low-mass X-ray binary system SAX J1808.4-3658 during an accretion outburst in August 2019. Current accretion models fail to account for the luminosity of both optical and ultraviolet pulsations, which are more likely to be driven by synchro-curvature radiation in the pulsar magnetosphere or just outside of it.
