New insights on the near-infrared veiling of young stars using CFHT/SPIRou data

A. P. Sousa et al.

Summary: In this study, the near-infrared veiling of 14 accreting stars was measured and compared with accretion and inner disk diagnostics. The results showed that the veiling grows from the Y to the K band and is consistent with the NIR emission excess. It was also found that the veiling is linearly correlated with the accretion properties and is affected by the system's inclination. The variability of the veiling was observed on a daily timescale, while the mean veiling remained stable on longer timescales.

C. C. Espaillat et al.

Summary: The Hubble UV Legacy Library of Young Stars as Essential Standards (ULLYSES) Director's Discretionary Program and the ODYSSEUS survey will greatly advance our understanding of the relationship between young stars and their protoplanetary disks. By analyzing the ULLYSES spectral database, ODYSSEUS will investigate key physical processes such as mass accretion, mass outflow, and disk structure, and provide comprehensive multi-wavelength observations.

Summary: This study investigates the presence of misalignments in transition disks by using near infrared and submillimeter interferometric observations. The analysis reveals six disks to exhibit significant misalignments, which are consistent with the predicted shadow positions in scattered light images.

The Effects of Starspots on Spectroscopic Mass Estimates of Low-mass Young Stars

C. Flores et al.

Summary: In this study, a large-scale infrared spectroscopic survey of T Tauri stars was conducted to investigate the effects of magnetic fields and mass accretion processes on the surface temperature and mass of young stars. The results showed that infrared temperatures provide more precise and accurate stellar masses compared to optical temperatures.

PENELLOPE: The ESO data legacy program to complement the UV Legacy Library of Young Stars (ULLYSES): I. Survey presentation and accretion properties of Orion OB1

C. F. Manara et al.

Summary: The evolution of young stars and disks is driven by processes such as accretion and ejection, which are best probed spectroscopically using instruments like the Hubble Space Telescope and the ESO Very Large Telescope. Studies on regions like the Orion OB1 association and the -Orionis cluster have shown similarities in accretion rates with other young star-forming regions. The combination of data from ULLYSES and PENELLOPE will play a key role in understanding the mechanisms of accretion and ejection in young stars.

Summary: Researchers study the magnetospheric accretion process in the young stellar object V807 Tau and observe periodic variations in the light curve, as well as changes in spectral features. Mapping the magnetic field topology at the surface, they find a tilted dipolar component and detect periodic accretion shock and funnel flow.

Magnetic Braking of Accreting T Tauri Stars: Effects of Mass Accretion Rate, Rotation, and Dipolar Field Strength

Lewis G. Ireland et al.

Summary: The rotational evolution of an accreting pre-main-sequence star is influenced by its magnetic interaction with the surrounding circumstellar disk. Simulations show that changes in the stellar magnetic field strength, rotation rate, and mass accretion rate affect the net stellar torque. The presence of an accretion disk appears to increase the efficiency of stellar torques, and achieving spin equilibrium may require a higher stellar wind mass-loss rate.
