Deciphering the 3D Orion Nebula. II. A Low Ionization Region of Multiple Velocity Components Southwest of 1 Ori C Confounds Interpretation of Low Velocity Resolution Studies of Temperature, Density, and Abundance

C. R. O'Dell et al.

Summary: The study reveals that there are two velocity systems contributing to the emission-line spectrum of the brightest parts of the Orion Nebula, with different ionization levels and velocities compared to the central part of the nebula. This complexity challenges earlier determinations of abundance and physical conditions, emphasizing the need for very high spectral resolution or simpler regions in future studies.

Photoionized Herbig-Haro objects in the Orion Nebula through deep high-spectral resolution spectroscopy - I. HH 529 II and III

J. E. Mendez-Delgado et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze the physical conditions, chemical composition, and kinematic properties of two bow shocks of the fully photoionized Herbig-Haro object HH 529 in the Orion Nebula. We found an overabundance of C, O, Ne, S, Cl, and Ar in the bow shocks, which may be related to H-deficient material from the source of the HH 529 flow. Additionally, we estimate the iron content in different components and observe an increase in iron content likely due to the destruction of dust grains in the bow shocks.
