The novel LaCl3/nano-SiO2 catalyst was synthesized by adsorption of LaCl3 on nano-SiO2 and characterized by powder XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, FT-IR spectra, BET surface area, TPD of ammonia and ICP-AES analyses. It was found as an efficient catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolinones. All reactions proceeded with high efficacy under solvent-free conditions and gave excellent yields avoiding tedious workup and purification of products. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
