High lipid and high carbohydrate diets affect muscle growth of blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) through different signaling pathways

Yang-yang Huang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of high lipid/carbohydrate diet on muscle growth in Megalobrama amblycephala. Results showed that high energy diets promoted muscle fiber hyperplasia, with high lipid and carbohydrate diets affecting muscle growth through AMPK/Sirt1 pathway and Ca2+-dependent pathway, respectively.

Vitamin C Attenuates Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Apoptosis Induced by Acute Hypoxia through the Nrf2/Keap1 Signaling Pathway in Gibel Carp (Carassius gibelio)

Liyun Wu et al.

Summary: Previous studies have shown that vitamin C has a protective effect in fish. In this study, it was found that vitamin C can attenuate oxidative damage, inflammation, and acute hypoxia-induced apoptosis in gibel carp. This protective mechanism is mediated through the activation of the Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway. These findings provide new insights into the defense strategies of fish under hypoxic conditions.
