Interactive effects of dietary cholesterol and bile acids on the growth, lipid metabolism, immune response and intestinal microbiota of Litopenaeus vannamei: Sparing effect of bile acids on cholesterol in shrimp diets

Chen Su et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing levels of CHO and BA in shrimp diets significantly improved the growth performance of Litopenaeus vannamei, with BA showing a sparing effect on CHO. Both CHO and BA had significant impacts on the lipid metabolism, immune response, and intestinal microbiota of shrimp.

Senolytic Combination of Dasatinib and Quercetin Alleviates Intestinal Senescence and Inflammation and Modulates the Gut Microbiome in Aged Mice

Tatiana Dandolini Saccon et al.

Summary: The study found that the senolytic drug combination Dasatinib plus Quercetin (D+Q) significantly reduces senescent cell and inflammatory burden in the intestines of aged mice, while also altering specific microbiota signatures. The most prominent changes were observed in the small intestine. This suggests that optimized senolytic regimens may improve health in older subjects by reducing intestinal senescence, inflammation, and microbial dysbiosis.

Effects of dietary quercetin on the innate immune response and resistance to white spot syndrome virus in Procambarus clarkii

Yunfei Zhang et al.

Summary: The study showed that dietary supplementation of 40 mg/kg quercetin significantly reduced crayfish mortality and WSSV copy number after challenge, while also increasing the immune activity such as catalase and lysozyme. Additionally, dietary quercetin enhanced the expression of immune-related genes and induced apoptosis in hemocytes of crayfish.

The effects of quercetin combined with nucleopolyhedrovirus on the growth and immune response in the silkworm (Bombyx mori)

Guiqin Shi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the combined treatment of quercetin with Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) has significant negative effects on the growth and survival of silkworms. The combined treatment inhibits the activities of protective enzymes in silkworms, leading to oxidative damage, affecting the immune response, and resulting in abnormal growth. The accumulation of quercetin increases the susceptibility of silkworms to pathogens.
