Iron and copper complexation in Macaronesian coastal waters

V. Arnone et al.

Summary: This study investigated the concentration of dissolved iron (dFe) and copper (dCu) as well as the conditional stability constants of organic binding ligands (L-Fe, L-Cu, log K-Fe3+L(cond), and log K-Cu2+L(cond)) in the surface coastal waters and oceanic stations of the Macaronesia region. The results showed variations in metal and ligand concentrations between coastal and oceanic areas, with coastal areas experiencing higher levels due to biological activity and water mixing induced by wind. The findings contribute to understanding the impact of coastal areas on the biogeochemical cycles of iron and copper.

Effect of Dietary Manganese and Zinc Levels on Growth and Bone Status of Senegalese Sole (Solea senegalensis) Post-Larvae

Michael N. Viegas et al.

Summary: The study found that supplementing organic Mn and Zn to the diet of Senegalese sole post-larvae can improve survival rates, reduce vertebral malformations, and increase Mn deposition in bone.

Dietary chromium modulates glucose homeostasis and induces oxidative stress in Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)

Bo Shi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that optimal dietary supplementation of chromium had beneficial effects on glucose homeostasis and growth in shrimp, while excess caused oxidative damage and impaired growth.

Effects of dietary L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate on growth performance, haematological parameters, biochemical characteristics, and skeletal features of juvenile hybrid grouper (♀Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x ♂E. lanceolatus)

Isabella Ebi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dietary L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate on juvenile hybrid grouper and found that supplementing with vitamin C improved growth performance and survival rates while reducing total feed intake. Hepatic VC concentration was positively correlated with dietary VC supplementation, reaching saturation at 386 mg/kg. Feeding diets without VC may lead to higher serum protein levels and skeletal deformities.
