Thermal acclimation alters Na+/K+-ATPase activity in a tissue-specific manner in Drosophila melanogaster

Summary: The study found that the activity of Na+/K+-ATPase decreased in the thorax and head of cold-acclimated flies, potentially assisting in maintaining K+ homeostasis and membrane potential across muscle membranes. Although the changes resulted in a delay in the onset of coma in cold-acclimated flies, the reduced activity of Na+/K+-ATPase in the brain did not align with expectations.
